Cecile Cyr Obituary

Mrs. Cecile Memere (Benoit) Cyr, of Taunton died peacefully Sunday, May 4 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and John McMullen, following a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Laurent J. Cyr. She was born 91 years ago in Central Falls, R.I., the daughter of the late Paul and Diana (Boudreau) Benoit. She was educated in Taunton and had been a city resident for a good part of her life. Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Cyr had been employed as a cosmetology instructor for the former Taunton Beauty Academy for over 20 years, and was respected and loved by many of her students. She enjoyed spending time with her family and playing cards. She will be dearly missed by all who witnessed her dignity and grace. She was a communicant of the former St. Jacques Church. She leaves: 1 daughter: Elizabeth McMullen of Brockton 1 brother: Paul Benoit of Bedford, N.H. 2 sisters: Theresa Chuckran of Londonderry, N.H. Marguerite Brosnan of Taunton 4 loving grandchildren: Christina Galanis of Carver Scott McMullen of Norwell Aimee Shanks of Brockton Jacqueline McMullen of Brockton 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews Mrs. Cyr was also the sister of the late Gerard Benoit and Eugene Benoit. Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, Taunton, on Wednesday, May 7 at 11:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Jude the Apostle Church, 249 Whittenton Street, Taunton, at 12:00 Noon. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Tuesday, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M.
