Mr. George A. Dietzler, Age 89, passed away peacefully on Saturday December 8th 2018. Born on April 28, 1929 to the parents of the late Frank and Dorothy Dietzler. George was raised and educated in Green Bay, WI. He received his bachelors and masters in music education from Lowell University. George was a United States Navy veteran and served during the Korean Era.
George was a self-taught musician and enjoyed composing and arranging music. He had a passion for marching bands and classical music. In his earlier years, George took a train from Wisconsin to Washington D.C to audition for acceptance into the Naval Band. During his 20 years in the military, George became Senior Chief and was the Senior Chief Musician and band conductor. He also taught at the Navy School of Music in Washington D.C for many years. George wrote a march for the city of Taunton called The City of Taunton March. Besides his love for music, he enjoyed photography and reading.
George was the Loving husband of Lorraine (Morin) Dietzler of Taunton. Beloved father of Cecilia Dietzler of N. Scituate, RI, David Dietzler of Taunton, George L. Dietzler of N. Dighton, Anthony F. Dietzler of Taunton and Karl M. Dietzler of Yreck, CA. Brother of Mary Vannieuwenhoven of OH. Grandfather of Molly OBrien of Cranston, RI, Simone Dietzler of Portland, OR, and Jens Dietzler of Eugene, OR.
Visiting hours will be held in the Riendeau-Mulvey funeral home, 467 Bay St. Taunton, MA, on Friday, December 14th from 4-6PM. A funeral service will follow at 6PM. Burial will take place with military honors the following Friday, December 21st at 11AM in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Taunton MA.
