Leo Caron Obituary

Mr. Leo Joseph Caron, of Berkley died Tuesday June 10 in the Catholic Memorial Home, Fall River, following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Doris L. (Raymond) Caron, having recently celebrated their 59th anniversary on May 30. He was born 90 years ago in Taunton, the son of the late Joseph C. and Antoinette (Poudrier) Caron. He was educated in Taunton and had been a Berkley resident for many years. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a machine operator for Automatic Machine Products in Attleboro for 35 years. He had previously been em- ployed as a baker for both the former Schaffer Bakery in Taunton for 5 years and the former Leonards Bakery in Taunton for 4 years, where he made and displayed his and his wifes wedding cake. He was also briefly employed by Brothers Bakery in East Taunton. Mr. Caron also operated Carons Home Bakery in Berkley in the mid 1960s. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the European, African Middle Eastern Theatre, and participated in the Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, Sicily and Tunisian campaigns, receiving the Theatre Campaign Ribbon with 4 Battle Stars. He was a member of the Berkley Fire Department during the 1950s and was a founding member of the Berkley Firemens Association. He was also a member of the David F. Adams Post 611 Veterans of Foreign Wars in Taunton. Mr. Caron enjoyed woodworking, camping with his family and attending his Army reunions throughout the United States. He was featured on the Freewheelin album of bluegrass music and sat for the cover photo of the Shes in his Dreams album in 2007. He attended Annunciation of the Lord Church in Taunton. In addition to his wife, of Berkley, he leaves: 2 sons: James F. Caron, and his wife Sandra of West Chester, Pa. Joseph L. Caron of Berkley 3 daughters: Irene M. Allie, and her husband Jeffrey of Dighton Mary L. Donahue of Berkley Anne M. Caron of Taunton 4 grandchildren: Brian D. Viera of August, N.J. Andrew J. Caron, and his wife Jennifer of Burlington, N.J. Timothy P. Caron, and his wife Renee of Pottstown, Pa. Kathleen L. Trainer, and her husband Charles of Reading Pa. 5 great grandchildren: Benjamin A., Jeffrey R. and Thomas J. TJ Caron all of Burlington, N.J. Sean S. Caron of Pottstown, N.J. Kimberly M. Trainer of Reading, Pa. several nieces and nephews Mr. Caron was also the brother of the late Sr. Irene Marie (Aurore), Jeannette Murray, Eva Mack, Irene LeClair and Helen Meunier. Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, Taunton, on Saturday, June 14 at 9:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in the Annunciation of the Lord Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visiting Hours will be held on Friday, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M.
