Amadeu “Gabriel” Gabriel, age 101, of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, passed away on Friday, November 28, 2025.
Born on October 13, 1924, in Cardanha, Portugal, he was the only son of the late Jose Antibua Gabriel and Maria dos Santos Povinha, and brother to Ester, Ermezinda, and Natalina. In his early adulthood, he served in the Military Police in Mozambique.
After immigrating to the United States, he became known to most as Gabriel. He settled in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, where he was employed for many decades at American Insulated Wire, earning respect for his dedication and strong work ethic.
Gabriel was an accomplished woodworker and devoted many years to his craft. Following his marriage, he and his wife participated together in numerous craft shows and bazaars, sharing this pursuit for many years. He also took great pride in caring for his yard through landscaping and gardening, pursuits he maintained even in his later years.
He married Lucia Gabriel on January 26,1958. She predeceased him.
Gabriel and his wife were longtime members of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Cumberland, Rhode Island, where they faithfully attended the 11:00 a.m. Mass with their family. They were also members of the Madeira Club of Central Falls and enjoyed traveling together, returning often to Espinho, Portugal, for vacations.
He is survived by his three daughters: Lucia Heath and her husband George Heath, and their children Ronnie, Jenna, and Joseph; Aurora Menard, widow of Paul Menard, and her sons Mason and Marshall; and Margaret Levesque and her husband David Levesque, and their sons Nick and Kyle. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on December 29, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 1 Fatima Drive, Cumberland, Rhode Island 02864.
