Aurea Plaza

Mrs. Aurea Plaza, age 77, of Taunton, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Monday, December 8, 2025. She was the devoted wife of Roberto Burgos. Born in Lares, Puerto Rico, on June 17, 1948, Aurea was the daughter of the late Rosa Plaza and Eduardo Vega. She made Taunton her home for many years and was a faithful parishioner of Holy Family Parish in East Taunton.

Aurea dedicated her career to serving the community as a teachers assistant for Taunton Public Schools, where she touched the lives of countless students and colleagues with her kindness and commitment.

She found great joy in traveling, particularly to her native Puerto Rico. Aurea was passionate about teaching, but above all, she treasured time spent with her beloved family.

Aurea will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she enriched. Her legacy of love, service, and devotion will remain in the hearts of those who knew her.

In addition to her beloved husband Roberto, she is survived by her son, Roberto X. Burgos and her daughters, Aurea E. Martinez, Rosa I. Martinez, Patricia Vernal, Brenda L. Burgos and Loraine Roman. She was the sister of Eduardo Vega, Angie Robles, Ramonita Roman and Delia Vega. She also leaves behind 12 cherished grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Sunday December 14, 2025 from 3:00pm-7:00pm in the Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay St. Taunton, MA 02780. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00am on Monday, December 15, 2025 in the Holy Family Parish, 372 Middleboro Ave, East Taunton, MA 02718. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, 475 E.
