Chelsea L. Carvalho

Chelsea Lynn Carvalho, born on a beautiful fall day on September 19, 1990, in Boston, MA, to Laurie (Berube) Muncy and David Wayne Carvalho, left this world on November 18, 2024, but will never leave our hearts.

Chelsea is survived by her devoted mother, Laurie, and her husband, John Muncy; her beloved sister, Coreen Taft Nelson; and many loving family members, including Naval Commander Mark Muncy and his wife, Jessica; Thomas Lhorman and his wife, Eva; Sandra Berube Brown and her husband David, and John Berube and his wife, Rosie. She was cherished by her grandparents, Jenny Hall and her husband, Robert and John L. Berube. Chelsea shared a close bond with her nephew, Devin Thai Moura, and niece, Avery Ann Nelson. Many aunts, uncles, and cousins, too numerous to name, also share in our grief over the loss of Chelsea.

Chelsea was a free spirit with a passion for art and animals. She loved her dog, Brutus, who spent his life faithfully by her side. Besides Brutus, Chelsea always had a bunny and iguana living in her bedroom. She also had a passion for rescuing kittens. Chelsea’s presence lit up every room she entered. Strong-willed and vibrant from a young age, she was determined to follow her own path, as illustrated by her early escape attempts to visit Nana’s house. Her brilliance shone early. She read fluently by age three and mastered using computers at age 4, once renaming all the desktop icons to ‘Chelsea’ before she was old enough to attend school. Once in school, she delighted in reading to her classmates and exploring her intellect uniquely. As she grew older, Chelsea’s fearlessness became evident. Whether climbing 30 feet up a tree or experimenting with new looks and styles, she embraced life boldly and creatively. She would explore the underground tunnels and abandoned buildings at TSH, often running from security with her friend Gabe in tow. Chelsea was called Rocky by some elected officials in Freetown, where she earned the nickname, hanging around the office at the Town Hall with her mother after school. For her high school graduation, Chelsea walked the stage proudly sporting a mohawk, a testament to her individuality. Chelsea graduated from Portsmouth High School in Rhode Island and earned an associate degree from the Community College of Rhode Island. She pursued a career in computer network security, teaching herself the intricacies of computer science.

Chelsea lived in various Massachusetts communities from Salem to Southbridge, always seeking peace, love, and new experiences. Following her education, Chelsea loved traveling. She and a girlfriend traveled to the Galapagos Islands, seeking her destiny through nature, her embrace of sea turtles, and her love of the ocean. Chelsea also loved fast cars, so she traveled to Germany, where she visited the Mercedes factory and the famous castles from the fairytales of her youth. She visited Paris and other parts of Europe and met a museum curator dedicated to the Sex Pistols. The curator gifted her a bracelet owned and worn by Sid Vicious in that famous picture with Nancy. The bracelet was one of her prized possessions. Chelsea’s legacy is one of light, love, and unyielding spirit. Chelsea was brilliant in every way and desperately loved by her mother and sister. She leaves countless memories that will be treasured by all who knew and loved her. Her family is heartbroken by her sudden loss.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay St., Taunton, MA from 11:00am-1:00pm. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
