Delia Ann “D’Ann” Gunn passed away peacefully Thursday, April 4, 2024.
D’Ann was the daughter of Robert Francis Mahon and Violet (Kloes) Mahon, born on September 23, 1937, in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. She was the oldest of three children. D’Ann’s childhood was filled with adventures. She traveled with her family to Japan when her father was assigned to the head of the Investigative War Tribunals during the Japanese War Crime Trials, always telling the story how they crossed the International Date line twice due to a storm hitting the boat. She spent time in Catalina Island, CA during her youth paddle boarding in Avalon Harbor and visiting the Wrigley’s Mansion when her father was Chief of Police on the island. As a teenager she grew up in Manhattan Beach, CA where she met her lifelong friends who stayed connected throughout the rest of their lives. D’Ann married her first husband and had three children Kelly, Craig, and Meghan. She was very active as a mother to her children while working a variety of jobs. D’Ann’s passion for continued learning showed through, be it working as a Realtor, International Shipping Import/Exporter, or volunteering in Hospice Care. D’Ann met her second husband James Gunn, and they shared an amazing life of travel with each other while celebrating and becoming grandparents to their 8 grandchildren. D’Ann also renewed her love for being an artist, with her hand painted Christmas and Birthday Cards along with the multitude of portraits and scenery are relished by all her recipients and hang proudly in so many homes.
D’Ann was also very active within her Church and enjoyed her time with her church family tremendously. D’Ann’s most recent highlight was meeting her twin great-grandchildren who made a surprise visit to her a few weeks ago. A visit she so excitedly talked about every chance she could. D’Ann passed away peacefully Thursday, April 4, 2024, and will be severely missed by her family and friends.
