Dennis Rogers Obituary

Dennis Rogers, of Raynham and Falmouth, passed away Monday July 19th, in Wareham, MA.  Partners with Lindsey Dowling for the last 23 years, together they shared a life with their children Tyler and Emily Rogers, and their “good-girl” Gracie.  Their story was complicated but they were proud of the family they created, and love was always at the center.

Dennis is survived by so many people that love him and he firmly believed love was what created a family.  In Falmouth, he created a family including Scott, Buster, Ronnie, Paul and Luke, among many others.  Off Cape, he is survived by his mother Laura Rogers, his father Steven Rogers and his wife Debra.  His brothers and sisters:  Nick, Sara, Michael, Jason and Nicole; his grandparents Bill and Fran Rogers and many aunts, uncles and cousins, nieces and nephews.  Dennis was also loved by Nikki and Terry David, Kevin Niemiec and the entire Dowling Family.

Dennis loved his morning ride listening to sports radio and drinking a red bull.  He loved music and always had someone new for us to listen to. Dennis loved to make people laugh and if you spent 10 minutes with him it probably happened, even if it was at your own expense.  He was silly, ridiculous even, and that was part of his charm.  On Sundays, you’d find him at “church” – on the golf course, often with the same group of guys from high school.

Dennis’ greatest passion was sports… playing, watching but especially coaching.  He impacted every child he ever coached and watching them develop a new skill truly brought him joy.  He coached loudly, and was competitive, but the kids were always his focus, and he loved every minute of it.

Dennis most recently worked in the Cape where he helped establish the Pondview Recovery House and was so proud to be a part of that process.  He believed in second chances and was a support to so many men hoping to establish and maintain sobriety, and to reclaim their lives.

Dennis’ proudest accomplishment was his children. He had the son of his dreams in Tyler. Smart, athletic and kind, Tyler has all the best parts of his father (including his charm). Emily, Dennis’ “baby-girl” was truly his light. He could never say no to her and so he was often subject to one of her great ideas like manicures, make-up tutorials or spur of the moment bowling trips.

In remembering Dennis, remember his kindness.  No matter what was going on in his life he always had the time to listen, and the perfect piece of advice to offer. His heart was his biggest and best part.  Dennis will be truly missed by those who knew him.
