It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edward Mirka, who passed away on June 30, 2026, at the age of 77.
Born in Taunton, Massachusetts, Edward was the beloved son of the late Agnes “Ardell” (Flood) and Walter F. Mirka. A proud graduate of Monsignor James Coyle High School, where he was a dedicated athlete and lettered in both football and baseball, he continued his education at Wentworth Institute, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
Edward dedicated his career to serving the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a Civil Engineer. Throughout his many years of service, he played an important role in numerous projects throughout the Greater Boston area before his retirement. He was admired for his strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to doing every job well. Beyond his professional accomplishments and his dedication to his home and family, Edward was a man of quiet but profound Catholic faith. He found great purpose in his service to his parish, having been a longtime and devoted usher at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Dedham, where he welcomed others with kindness and commitment. Edward was also a Lifetime Member of the Polish American Citizens Club in Taunton.
Those who knew Edward will remember him as someone who took great pride in everything he did. He was meticulous and particular, especially when it came to caring for his yard and landscaping. He found peace outdoors and enjoyed spending time working around his home. He also cherished traveling to Saratoga, creating many fond memories over the years.
Edward had a special place in his heart for animals, especially his beloved dogs, Bella and the late Holly, who brought him endless companionship and joy.
Above all, Edward treasured his family. He is survived by his wife, Judi (Sbardella) Mirka; his brother, Andrew Mirka and his wife, Tammy; his sister, Maureen Lydon and her husband, Glenn; his stepdaughter, Melissa Vayo; his aunts, Mary and Alice; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many extended family members.
He was predeceased by his brother, Michael Mirka.
