Eleanor J. (Milka) Baptiste

Mrs. Eleanor J. (Milka) Baptiste, age 88 of Taunton, passed away on Friday August 18th, 2023 at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. Eleanor was the beloved wife of the late William E. Baptiste Sr. She was born in Taunton on August 14th, 1935, to the late Anna (Taraska) and Edward Milka. Eleanor was a lifelong city resident. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a receptionist for many years at the Former Foxboro Company.

Eleanor had a passion for baking. She owned her own cake making company where she would indulge in her many baking talents. Eleanor took pride in being able to bake delicious cakes for all her family’s special occasions. Eleanor also loved gardening where her gardens would flourish with many different varieties and colors of flowers. She also enjoyed spending time with her family.

She leaves: 2 sons: William E. Baptiste, Jr. and his wife, Sandra of Taunton, and Steven R. Baptiste and his wife, Pamela of Taunton; 2 daughters: Susan A. Cyr and her husband, Matthew of Taunton, and Jacqueline M. MacKenzie of Taunton and her former husband Donald MacKenzie of Fall River; 6 grandchildren: Bryan, Brendan, Christopher, Benjamin, Amanda and Kathryn Baptiste; and two great grandchildren: Harper and Noah Baptiste. Her sister Edwina Piekarski . She was predeceased by her siblings, Jean Walker, Veronica Custer, Matilda Wade, Frank Milka, Helen Perry and Matthew Milka. Eleanor also leaves several nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, August 24th from 4:00pm-7:00pm in the Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay St. Taunton, Ma. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 25th at 10:00am in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Parish, 80 Bay Street, Taunton, Ma, followed by burial in Mayflower Hill Cemetery, Taunton. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
