Gary & Patricia Phillips

Gary D. Phillips, age 86, of Carver, MA passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Blue Hills Health and Rehabilitation in Stoughton, MA. He was the beloved husband to the late Patricia M. (Fitzpatrick) Phillips, who preceded him in death on February 18, 2025.

Born in Martinsville, Indiana on January 6, 1939, to the late Evelyn (Stairwalt) and Herbert Phillips, Gary lived a life marked by commitment, adventure, and a profound love for family and the great outdoors.

Growing up in Martinsville, Gary developed a deep-rooted sense of community and patriotism that led him to proudly serve as a Navy Veteran of the United States. It was during his time stationed at Quonset Point Naval Base Station that he met the love of his life Patricia (Fitzpatrick) Phillips, with whom he would have celebrated 68 years of marriage—a partnership filled with laughter, shared dreams, and endless exploration.

Together, Gary and his beloved late wife journeyed across the United States, embracing every landscape and experience, besides Hawaii. Their adventurous spirits took them hiking up Mt. Washington and brought them into the warm company of cherished friends, Fred and Mary Ann Johnson of Arizona, with whom they made countless fond memories.

A passionate outdoorsman, Gary found joy in hiking, biking, camping, and simply immersing himself in nature's beauty. When not traveling, he was a dedicated entrepreneur, owning and operating Phillip’s Equipment Storage and Handling, where he demonstrated hard work and integrity in every endeavor.

He will be deeply missed, but those who loved him will forever carry his spirit on every new trail, under every open sky, and in every heartfelt memory shared.

May he rest in peace, reunited with his beloved wife, and forever hiking the hills of eternity.

Survived by his daughter Sandra Brooks, his brother Gordon Phillips and his wife Linda, his sister Deborah Cooper and her husband Joseph, his adored grandchildren; Sarah M. Brooks, Christine J. Brooks, Rebecca R. Brooks and seven wonderful great grandchildren. Gary was also the father to the late Samuel A. Phillips and brother of the late Gregg Phillips and his wife Marcy.

A Graveside Service will be held at 12:45pm on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave, Bourne, MA. All relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
