Eugene “Gene” R. LeClair, born in Taunton, MA, passed away suddenly on Tuesday April 4, 2023 at the age of 69.
Gene was a graduate of St. Jacques Grammar School and Taunton High School class of 1971. He worked at Taunton State Hospital for many years and was well known in the Taunton community, where he owned and operated General Fire Extinguishers Inc. for 44 years. Gene had many talents, always giving of his time to help someone with a special project. He acquired many licenses for his work, most notably as a general contractor. In his retirement he enjoyed remodeling several homes of family and friends; there was no job project that Gene couldn't accomplish or resolve in some way. Gene could be found at one of many coffee shops around town each morning with friends; he enjoyed everyone's company. One of his most enjoyable passions was playing cards with whomever wanted to play. He had routine card playing nights with his many friends at the Elks, the VFW or at any friend’s house. Gene was a long time member of the Taunton Lodge of Elks for 44 years.
Gene was the fourth oldest child born to the late Collette Y. (Emond) and M. Felix LeClair. He is predeceased by his long time friend Pauline Poulin, his sister Michelle Silliker of N.Y., and brother Stephen LeClair of Florida. Gene leaves behind four brothers, Frank (Donna) Raposa of Seekonk, David (Joyce) LeClair of East Taunton, M. Peter (Cindy) LeClair of Raynham and Paul (Mary) LeClair of Taunton. He was Godfather to Kathryn LeClair Sorge of Foxboro and Kara LeClair of North Attleboro. In addition Gene leaves several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
Funeral arrangements will be arranged by Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home 467 Bay St. Taunton, MA. Visiting hours are Monday April 10, 2023 from 4:00-7:00pm.
Funeral Services will begin at 9:00am at the Funeral Home on Tuesday April 11, 2023, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00am at Holy Family Church, 372 Middleboro Ave, East Taunton, MA.
