After 96 years, Gerald (Gerry) Phillipe Cote passed away with his family by his side on Saturday October 14, 2023. He was born on September 27, 1927, to the late Wilfred and Edna (Gauvin) Cote of Raynham.
Born during the depression era, he joined the U.S. Navy to serve his country during WWII as a Seamen 1st Class, honorably discharged receiving the WW2 Victory Medal, in addition to the American Theater and Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Ribbons. Gerry was employed with Reed & Barton Silversmith for many years before the U.S. Postal Service for over 25 years where he later retired from as head time keeper. Throughout his life he enjoyed camping, playing cards and celebrating with friends and family. As an avid Red Sox fan and storyteller, he could keep you amused for quite some time.
Gerry was predeceased in death by his wives Elaine LeBrun, Precille Lemieux and his daughter Florence. Brothers Laurence, Richard (Nobert), Jean and Ernest. Sisters Anita, Claire and Florence. Two grandchildren, Frank and William Cote, and one great grandchild, Zachary Tuttle. He is survived by his four sons; Donald and his wife Jeanne (Brezinski) Cote of Georgia, Douglas and his wife Cheryl (Geer) Cote of Taunton, David Cote of Taunton, Dennis "Topper" and his wife Debbie (Moquin) Cote of Middleboro and daughter Denise (Cote) Whitmore and her husband Steven Whitmore of Taunton. In addition, he leaves 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren, one brother Paul Cote of Taunton and two sisters Lorraine Williams of Florida and Yvonne Bird of Taunton. Gerry Cote has now risen, but those who knew him will always be touched by his smile.
Visitation will be held at Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay St. Taunton, MA on Friday October 20, 2023, from 4:00-7:00pm. A Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday October 21, 2023 at St. Jude the Apostle Parish 249 Whittenton St. Taunton, MA at 10:00am, followed by a burial at St. Joseph Cemetery 475 E. Britannia St. Taunton, Ma. All family and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
