Happy Bourque, age 81, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 11th 2022, at Morton hospital in Taunton Massachusetts.
Happy grew up in the small village of Haute Aboujagane, New Brunswick, Canada and moved to the United States when a young adult. He enlisted in the U.S. Army as a combat engineer and was stationed in Colorado. He soon met the love of his life, Mary Carreiro, and they were married on October 28 th,1967. They spent 55 wonderful years together until Mary passed away in August of this year. After his discharge, Happy worked as a special state police officer in the Massachusetts correctional system until his retirement in 2001. Happy made an incredible number of lifelong friends and extended family in the years he worked in the correctional system and he always had great stories to tell from their adventures at work.
Happy loved to spend time with his family and friends. He was always the life of the party and tried to enjoy every day to its fullest. Apart from spending time with his family, he and his late wife, Mary Bourque, spent many years traveling across the continental United States, Canada, and parts of Mexico. They also made lots of wonderful memories with their friends at the Scottish Traveler RV park in Largo, Florida and the Ocean View RV park In Grand Barachois, New Brunswick, Canada. When not traveling, Happy liked to stay busy making walking sticks and Tuck boards for his family and friends.
In addition to his parents Lloyd and Delphine Bourque, Happy was predeceased by his brothers Roger Bourque and Alyre Bourque and his sister Claudette Metcalfe.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Candi Bourque and Darin Moreira and their daughter Catin, his son and daughter-in-law Brian Bourque and Tariesa Reine, Brians son's Joseph, Patrick, and TJ, Tariesa's daughter Maddy, and his great grandson Kayden (Joey's boy), his daughter and son-in-law April and Eric Hultman and their children Jacob and Hannah. Happy is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
In honor of the way he lived his life, we will have a celebration in 2023.
