Harry R. Belanger

Harry R. Belanger passed away March 28, 2019 at the Taunton Nursing home. He was 91 years old.


The son of Harry Belanger and Lydia Grenier Belanger and brother of the late Norman G. Belanger, Harry was also uncle to Norman Belanger, Joan Kelley, Diane Clark, the late Richard Belanger, and Brian Belanger. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Catherine Belanger and several cousins and great nieces and nephews.



A lifelong resident of Taunton, Mr. Belanger was a graduate of Taunton High school and later worked as a steam fireman at the Bristol County Court House. A man of many interests, he loved following Boston sports, playing golf, had a passion for history, woodworking, engraving, and he was a dog-lover and longtime member of the Taunton Rifle and Pistol Club.


Later in life, Mr. Belanger found enjoyment in his daily walks for lunch at the former Jimmys Restaurant off of the Taunton Green as well as time at home with his dog, Snuffy, and he often gave to charitable organizations such as the Salvation Army and MSPCA. Though typically content to sit back as a quiet observer, Mr. Belanger possessed a dry sense of humor and often shared anecdotes of childhood family memories, youthful pranks with friends, and fondly reflected on those with whom he had shared a common brand of banter or mischief.
