Henry Arsenault Jr., 85 of Taunton, MA, passed away surrounded by his family on October 1, 2026. He navigated through life with a witty sense of humor and an inspiring spirit that left a lasting impression on every soul he encountered. Henry was a force of nature, a man with a heart as vast as the mountains he loved to ski. He was a lover of life, a courageous explorer, and a beacon of joy in a world that could sometimes seem a little too serious.
Henry was a man of many talents, from being a self-taught skier, to becoming a passionate pharmacist, co-owner of St Pierre Pharmacy, and St Pierre Home Health. He was a visionary who had the courage to take the road less traveled, co-founding Hospice Corporation of Greater Taunton and Northeast Pharmacy Services Corporation. A proud member of the Taunton Rotary Club, Henry was a man of his community, always ready to lend a hand. He was also a man of faith, a devoted member of St Paul's Catholic Church, and later, St Nicholas of Myra in Dighton. A verse that resonated with him was Matthew 5:16, "In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."
Henry was not only an adventurous spirit but also a loving family man who believed in celebrating life to the fullest. His love for his wife Carol spanned over seventy years, a testament to his dedication and the deep love they shared. Carol had invited Henry to a Sadie Hawkins dance in high school and he declined. The following year he came looking for her. They celebrated their 63rd anniversary last June. An inspiring father, he shared his love for skiing, horse-riding, and travel with his children. Whether he was hosting friends and family at their home in Taunton or their chalet in North Conway, or at his winter home in Port St Lucie where he enjoyed speaking French with all of his Canadian friends. He was known for baking his unforgettable breads (especially his Christmas braided bread), or showing off his beautiful perennial gardens, Henry's home was always filled with love, laughter, and the tantalizing aroma of their delicious cooking.
Henry leaves behind a legacy of a strong work ethic, an enduring sense of love and courage that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. He would often lighten the serious tone in the elevators at Dana Farber with, "This is where the party is....Who is coming with us!" His sense of humor stayed with him til the very end.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carol, his daughters Lori Bignar and her partner Michael Boyle, Linda Jones and her husband David, Allison Arsenault, and his siblings Sr. Alice Arsenault, Philip Arsenault and his wife Judy, and Richard Arsenault and his partner Ella O'Connor. He also leaves behind 5 grandchildren, Brendan, John, Colin, Noah, and Nicole. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Sr. and Marie Ann Antoinette Arsenault, and his son, Jeffrey Arsenault.
Henry's laughter, his zest for life, and his courageous spirit will forever live on in the hearts of his loved ones. Please join us in celebrating his remarkable life by sharing your memories of Henry and uploading photos to the memorial page.
