James Patrick Gillon of Norton died peacefully at home surrounded by loving family on January 5th, 2025.
He was born August 11, 1945, in Richland, WA to the late George and Elizabeth (Aldrich) Gillon.
Following his graduation from Elgin High School in Marion County, OH, in 1963, he enlisted in the United States Marines and served 3 tours in Vietnam where he was the recipient of two purple hearts for his bravery. After being discharged from the Marines, he served on the Boston Metropolitan Police force before joining the U. S. Federal Marshal Service. He was married to the love of his life Judy (Walsh) Gillon for 52 wonderful years.
He loved camping with the Boy Scouts, helping them earn medals for their Eagle Scouts. He loved playing with his great grandsons and spending quality time with those he loved most. He also enjoyed feeding and watching all the local birds in his yard.
Jim was predeceased by his sister Phyllis and brother, Buddy. He is survived by sisters Pat and husband Marshall Grant of NV and Theresa Miller of FL and brothers Richard and wife Linda Gillon of AZ and Ken and wife Carolyn Mackie of KY. In addition to his wife, he leaves behind two daughters Ginger and husband Brad Wain of Winchendon, MA and Jill Gillon of Norton, MA. He also leaves behind three grandchildren Coren Gillon of Norton, MA, Brittany and husband Josh Gordon of Pawtucket, RI and Trinity Williams of Norton. Lastly, he leaves behind his two great grandsons, Grayson Carter Williams and Lucas James Gordon.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 547 Manley Street, West Bridgewater on Wednesday, January 8th, 2025, at 10:00 AM. Burial to follow at the Newland Street Cemetery, Norton.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Old Colony Hospice, 321 Manley St. West Bridgewater, whom helped to take care of Jim in his final months of life.
