James W. Lavender, age 63, passed away after a short illness at Tufts Medical Center on Wednesday, January 14, 2026. He was the husband of Linda (Mendoza) Lavender and the son of the late Dorothy (Petrilli) and Gordon Lavender Jr..
Jim grew up in Quincy and was a graduate of North Weymouth High School, Class of 1980. He continued his education graduating from Northeastern University and earned his post graduate degree in building technology. He then went on to open his own business, Design Collaborative. He was also a United States Postal Carrier from 2001-2015.
Jim married the love of his life Linda, and together they enjoyed their time together, kayaking, walking their dog “Baby”, attending many concerts and most recently their trip to the Caribbean Island of St. Maarten. He was an e-bay enthusiast, loved all types of shopping, football, cooking, eating, playing on his I-pad and just spending time with Linda in the home they shared in Raynham, where Jim was Vice President of their housing association.
Survived by his loving wife Linda and was close to his stepson Johnny Bates. He was predeceased by his sister LeeAnn Merchant.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, January 27th, 2026, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at the Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, Taunton, MA. A Memorial Service will immediately follow.
