James Charles Ross, known to family and friends as "Jim", passed away surrounded by family on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, in Taunton, Massachusetts, at the age of 77.
Jim was born on June 10, 1949, in Boston, Massachusetts. He was the beloved son of the late James and Florence Ross. He grew up surrounded by family and the values of hard work, loyalty, and quiet strength that would come to define him in the years ahead. Those who knew Jim will remember a man who was steady, kind, and deeply devoted to the people he loved.
Jim served his country in the Army. Following his military service, Jim built a long career in customer service. His final place of employment was CVS, where he was appreciated for his reliability and his work ethic.
Above all else, Jim was a family man. He is survived by his daughter, Keri Salerno, and his son-in-law, Joseph Salerno, who were a source of great pride and joy in his life. He was a loving grandfather to Nicholas, Madison, and Alyssa, and he cherished every moment spent with them. His grandchildren brought him immense happiness, and he treasured the time they shared together. Jim embraced his role as grandfather with warmth and devotion.
Jim is also survived by his sisters, Noreen and Patricia. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Florence, and his brother, Joseph.
In his free time, Jim found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, and he especially enjoyed being outdoors in the sunshine. One of his favorite pastimes was throwing a tennis ball to Tango for hours, a routine that reflected both his love of animals and his appreciation for peaceful, everyday moments. These quiet joys were among the things that made Jim’s life meaningful. Jim will be remembered for his kind heart, his gentle presence, and the steady way he moved through life. He was not a man who sought attention, but he made a lasting impression on those around him through his sincerity and care.
Though he will be deeply missed, Jim’s legacy lives on in the family he loved, the lives he touched, and the memories he created over the course of his remarkable life.
We invite family and friends to join us in a Celebration of Jim’s Life at Brack's Tavern, located at 58 East Grove St., Middleboro, MA on Sunday, October 25, 2026.
