Janet Rebello Obituary

Janet F. (Gordon) Rebello, 74, a lifelong resident of Taunton, passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at Rhode Island Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born in Taunton on June 14, 1952, Janet was the daughter of the late Normand Gordon and Rose (Desalliers) Gordon. She was a graduate of Taunton High School and continued her education at Bristol-Plymouth, where she earned her LPN certification. Janet devoted many years of her life to caring for others as a nurse at Taunton State Hospital, a profession that reflected her naturally thoughtful, kind, and generous spirit.

Janet was a woman who always thought of others and was happiest when surrounded by those she loved. Family was at the center of her life, and she especially treasured time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She shared an especially close bond with her husband, Michael, who was not only her husband of 47 years but also her best friend. The two were inseparable and shared a lifetime of love, companionship, and cherished memories.

Janet had a creative side and, for the past eight years, enjoyed taking art classes with her sisters. She was also a beautiful singer and enjoyed sharing her voice at weddings. Those who knew Janet will remember her for her warmth, generosity, thoughtfulness, and the genuine care she showed to everyone around her.

In addition to her beloved husband, Michael Rebello, Janet is survived by her son, Charles Rebello of North Carolina; her daughter, Paula Anderson and her husband, Zack, of Florida; her brothers, David Gordon and his wife Kathy; Brian Gordon and his wife Gail; and Thomas Gordon and his wife  Lisa; and her sisters, Linda Alger and her husband Dana; Susan Charest and her husband Gil; and Jacqueline Andrade and her husband Skip. She was predeceased by her brother, William Gordon.

Janet also leaves her beloved grandchildren, Kayla Giovanni and her husband Chris; Brian Wallentin; Kira Misch and husband Willie; Bridget Krueger and her husband Sean; and Sortia Rebello and her husband Shawn Hill, as well as five great-grandchildren. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss her greatly.

Janet's life was defined by the love she gave so freely to others. Her kindness, her devotion to family, her beautiful voice, and the countless memories she created with those closest to her will remain a lasting part of her legacy.
