Mrs. Jeannette (Menard) Guay, age 93, passed away at the Marion Manor Nursing Home in Taunton on September 3, 2023. She was the beloved wife of the late Norbert Alfred Guay.
Jeannette was born in Taunton, on February 11, 1930, to the late Antoinette (Levesque) and George Menard. Raised and educated in Taunton, Jeannette was a lifelong city resident and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1948. She married the love of her life Norbert, on April 18,1953 and enjoyed 67 loving years together prior to his passing on their anniversary in 2020.
Jeannette was an avid church-goer, reader and enjoyed sewing and crocheting, having made more afghans’ than can be counted. She was extremely family oriented and cooked for many large family outings and enjoyed when the family was altogether down the Cape on vacation. She held several jobs with the most recent being a hostess of the Gondola Restaurant in Taunton.
Jeannette is survived by her five children: Raymond (Susan) Guay, Richard (Karen) Guay, Alice (Dana) Higginbotham, Robert (Susan) Guay and Colleen (Manny) Furtado. Ten grandchildren: Heather (Mark) Welch, Courtney (Justin) Leech, Kyle (Kerry) Higginbotham, Meghan (Adam) Houghton, Nicole Higginbotham, Katelyn (James) MacDonald, Devan (Seth) Stewart, Christopher Hunter, Brittney and Kelsey Furtado. Ten great-grandchildren: Brenna and Grayson Welch, Hayden and Hadley Leech, Gavin and Declan Higginbotham, Avery and Madelyn Houghton and Caroline and Natalie MacDonald. Jeannette is also survived by her sister Therese (Bob) Marot and her sister- in-law Frances Guay. In addition to her parents and husband, Jeannette was predeceased by her brother Leo Menard.
Visitation will be held on Sunday September 10, 2023 from 2:00-4:00pm at Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay St. Taunton, Ma. A Funeral Mass will take place on Monday September 11, 2023 at St. Jude the Apostle Parish 249 Whittenton St. Taunton, Ma at 10:00am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. A private burial will take place at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, where Jeannette will be reunited with her late husband, Norbert.
