Joseph “Richard” Marrotte, age 94, of Taunton, passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2026. He was the beloved husband of the late Martha M. (Unsworth) Marrotte.
Born in Taunton, Massachusetts, on December 16, 1931, to the late Cora (Cote) and Alfred Marrotte. He attended Taunton High School and graduated with the Class of 1950, embarking on his journey with a strong foundation in his hometown community.
In 1952, Richard proudly joined the United States Army. He served honorably during the Korean War, demonstrating his commitment and sense of duty to his country. His military service is a testament to his courage and dedication. Known for his resourcefulness and skill, he was often called “Mr. Fix It” and was a true jack of all trades. Him and his brothers took over the family business, AJM Electric, ensuring its continued success and upholding the values instilled by his family.
In 1968, Richard met Martha Unsworth, the love of his life. Their relationship blossomed, and on June 13, 1970, they were married. Together, Richard and Martha lived what many would call a fairytale love story, marked by devotion and happiness.
A passionate supporter of the New England Patriots and the Red Sox, Richard’s love for sports was evident. He led a quiet and peaceful life, always maintaining a smile and spreading positivity among family and friends
Survived by his daughter Michele Marrotte, along with many nieces, nephews and other extended family. Richard was also the brother of the late Fred, Gerald, Clement, Rod, Edmond, Bob, Armand and Hector Marrotte.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, March 9, 2026, at Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay St. Taunton, MA from 10:00-11:00am, with a Memorial Service at 11:00am in the funeral home, followed by a burial at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave., Bourne, MA. All relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
