Joseph A. Smith Sr.

Joseph Albert Smith Sr. of Somerset, MA, passed away at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River, MA, on February 7, 2026. He was 71 years old.

Born on June 16, 1954, in Illinois, Joseph was a devoted husband to Kathryn (Elmes) Smith for 46 years. He was the son of Anne (Cabral) Smith and Arthur Smith. He moved to the Taunton area as a child and was educated in Taunton schools. He loved being with family and friends and making everyone laugh. He was an avid New England Patriots fan and enjoyed watching and playing golf.

He is survived by two sons, Joseph Smith Jr. and his wife Suzanne of Somerset, and Corey Ouellette-Smith and his wife Nicole of Taunton; two grandsons, Joseph Smith III and Jonathan Smith of Somerset; two great-grandsons, Matthew and Owen; a sister, Jean Anne Smith; two brothers, Louis Smith (Helen) and John Smith (Peachy), and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Manuel Smith of Mahomet, IL, and sister, Betty Smith of Taunton, MA.
