Julia Pomales, aged 89, of Raynham, Massachusetts, passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2025. She was the beloved wife of the late Arsenio D. Pomales.
Born in Vega Alta, Puerto Rico, on February 16, 1936, Julia was the daughter of the late Sofia (Rivera) and Onofread Negron. She was one of fourteen siblings and cherished her large family throughout her life. Julia immigrated to the United States at a young age and built a legacy of loving family and friends.
Julia was a devoted born-again Christian, committed to her faith for many years. She found great joy in singing at church and actively participating in the study and reading of God’s word. Her unwavering devotion and nurturing spirit made her the cornerstone of her family, always bringing loved ones together. Julia lived her faith, embodying the scripture, “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.”
She was predeceased by her son, Fernando Alvarado. Julia is survived by her loving children: Vilmary Ortiz, Nilsa Vasquez, Henry Pomales, Albert Pomales, and Jenny Pomales. She was a proud grandmother and great-grandmother to many.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay St., Taunton, MA 02780. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM at the funeral home. Julia will be laid to rest alongside her late husband, Arsenio, at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
