Lorraine Marie (Fougere) Bourque

Lorraine Marie (Fougere) Bourque, age 98, of Taunton, passed away peacefully at Boston Medical Center-South in Brockton, on Wednesday, May 14, 2025. She was the beloved wife of the late Alban Bourque. Lorraine was born in East Douglas, MA on April 9, 1927, to the late Rose M. (Babineau) and William D. Fougere. A devout Catholic, Lorraine was a longtime parishioner of the former St. Jacques, now St. Jude the Apostle Parish in Taunton. She was an esteemed member of the Women’s Guild and a recipient of the Marion Medal.

Lorraine had a passion for many hobbies, among which were watching the Red Sox and playing the card game “200”. She took great pleasure in spending time in her yard, planting and enjoying her beautiful flowers throughout the warmer seasons. Lorraine was an enthusiastic dancer, particularly enjoying her weekly ballroom dancing at the Roseland Ballroom with her late husband, Alban. Although she was born in MA, she was raised in Shediac Bridge, New Brunswick, Canada. Lorraine cherished their annual trips “Home” to Shediac Bridge every summer to spend time with family. Above all, Lorraine treasured the moments spent surrounded by her loved ones.

Lorraine is survived by her six children, Claude Bourque and wife Mary of Assonet, Paul Bourque and wife Brenda of Assonet, Bernard Bourque and wife Debra of Rehoboth, Blair Bourque and wife Louise of Taunton, Jocelyn Burnett and husband Steven of Taunton and Claudette Kistner and husband John of Taunton.  Lorraine was the proud grandmother of 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.  She was the sister of Helene Fougere, Jeanne Boudreau and late husband Leonce, both of New Brunswick. Lorraine was predeceased by her brother, the late Ronald Fougere. She also leaves three nieces, a nephew and other extended family members, all of New Brunswick.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025 from 4:00-7:00pm in the Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay St., Taunton, MA. A Funeral Mass will follow on Friday, May 23, 2025 at 10:00am in St. Jude the Apostle Parish, 249 Whittenton St., Taunton, MA. Burial will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery, 475 E Britannia St., Taunton, MA. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
