Louise T. (Desalliers) Powell

Mrs. Louise T. (Desalliers) Powell, age 95 of Taunton, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 28, 2025 at Morton Hospital in Taunton. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert W. Powell. Louise was born on March 7, 1929 to the late Rose (Nolin) and Wilfred Desalliers.

Louise worked at the Taunton State Hospital for over 50 years. She started as a Junior Clerk and worked her way up to being Treasurer. After her retirement, she dedicated a lot of her time to volunteering at the Taunton Library, teaching people to get their GED. She also assisted with the Meals on Wheels, helping the less fortunate.  Louise was a woman of faith and was a longtime parishioner of St. Jude the Apostle Parish in Taunton.

Louise was an avid gardener and enjoyed going for walks. She travelled around the world and really enjoyed life her life, always making the best of it. Louise loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Louise is survived by her cherished daughter Joan Silva and her significant other Steve R. Berk.  She was the sister of the late Rose Gordon, Claire Perry and Charles Desalliers. Louise was also the grandmother of Jonathan K. Silva and Nathan R. Silva and the great grandmother of Caleb Roberts, Layla, Adelyn, Tobias, Eloise and MacKennzie Silva. She also leaves several nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 from 3:00pm-5:00pm in the Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay St. Taunton MA 02780. A service will follow at 5:00pm in the funeral home. Burial will take place and be announced on a later date.
