Manuel H. Gomes

Manuel H. Gomes, 69, of East Taunton, MA, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2026, surrounded by family and friends.

Early Life & Career:
He was born on July 27, 1956, in Capelo, da Horta, Faial, Azores, the son of Manuel da Rosa Gomes and Maria Emilia de Faria. Manuel immigrated to the United States from Faial, Azores when he was twelve in 1968. He worked as a machinist at Texas Instruments for many years. Manuel was a hard worker and was always ready to lend a hand.

Passions & Interests:
He loved being outdoors, hiking, even climbing Mount Washington, camping, sitting by the fire, working in the yard and gardening. He loved going to the beach and traveling to New Hampshire, Cape Cod and Florida, where he lived for a few years. He also loved animals and rescued many pets throughout his life.

Faith & Ministry:
As a dedicated, baptized Jehovah’s Witness, Manuel volunteered as a full-time Minister for many years. He will be deeply remembered for his faithful devotion to his God, Jehovah, and his zeal for sharing his faith with others.

Family:
He is predeceased by his son, Michael Gomes. He is survived by his son, Manuel T. Gomes, and his wife, Sandra, and his daughter, Treysa E. Harris, and her husband, Andrew; and his children’s mother, Helen Souza; and his step-daughter, Rachel Bass, and her mother, Lea Bass; his grandchildren, Delaney DeGroff and her husband, Reese, Jamen and Jaxen Gomes; great-grandchild, Kayde DeGroff; and his siblings, Judite Matos, and her husband, Jorge, Carmen Cabral and her husband, Arthur, Fernando Gomes, and his wife, Donna; and nephews, Nick Gomes and his wife, Theresa, Eric Gomes and his wife, Drea, Chucky Crocker and his wife, Emily, and his nieces, Desiree Henriques, Sandra Matos and her husband, Nelson, Linda Matos, Sonia Braga, and her husband, Ryan, and Jessica Cabral as well as a number of grand- nieces and grand-nephews.

Services:
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026,  at 3:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness located at 535 Williams Street, North Dighton, MA 02764.
