Margaret M. (Mason) Blake

Margaret M. Blake, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026, at Maples Nursing and Rehabilitation center, Wrentham, MA.

Margaret was born on March 11, 1938, and raised by her grandparents, Oscar and Mary Mason, in Medway, MA. After graduating high school, Margaret married Francis J. Hamm and started a family that grew to six children. It was during this time that her husband, Francis, suffered a debilitating accident. After months in the hospital, she cared for his wounds at home, and her love of nursing was born.

At forty, she started over by moving to Foxboro, where she earned a nursing scholarship, graduated at the top of her class, and launched her nursing career. She worked at the Kennedy Donovan Center, Norcap Lodge, Norwood Hospital and spent the bulk of her career at Brockton VA psychiatric unit.

She was a cherished member of the Trinitarian Congregational Church community in Norton, part of the Prayer Shawl group and the painting class with June Haskins, where she painted ornaments and keepsakes for the church fair.

She painted treasured gifts for family and friends.

Once retired, Margaret began her last chapter, having her greatest adventures with family and friends. Hot air ballooning at sunrise over the Red Rocks in Sedona; overnight schooner trip in Maine; Arizona Ironman to cheer on her son Joe; and celebrating her 80th birthday with a weeklong trip in Costa Rica. She made multiple trips to Nova Scotia and Cape Breton Island with her loving companion Richie Chaisson. These and many other treasured times with family meant the world to her.

Margaret will be remembered as a kind, thoughtful, caring, creative, fun and spirited woman with a love of family and adventure.

Margaret is survived by her son, Joseph Hamm, and his wife Allyson; her daughter, Mary Kerfien, and her husband Darren; her daughters, Laura Trombetta and Amy Bodge; son Peter Hamm; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was predecessors by her former husband Francis Hamm, son John (Pat) Hamm, son in law Mark Trombetta.

Margaret’s memorial mass will take place at Trinitarian Congregational Church, located at 2 Pine Street, Norton, on February 7th, 2026, at 2:00 pm. Her family and friends will come together to celebrate and remember her extraordinary life.

If there is bad weather, the service will instead take place on Sunday, February 8th, 2026, at 2:00 pm.
