Maria Silva

Maria Silva, longtime resident of Taunton, passed away on January 6, 2022 after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Manuel R. Silva, Sr. Maria was born in St. Michael, Azores on January 3, 1944 to the late Manuel S. Silva and the late Maria Silva (Perece). 

Maria loved to cook and share a meal with her friends.  She enjoyed sewing and was quite the dancer.  She was a retired seamstress for the Taunton State Hospital.

Maria is survived by her beloved son Manuel R. Silva, Jr, with whom she shared a very close relationship. She leaves behind her grandson; Manny Silva, III, her brother; Manuel Silva and his wife Noemia of Plymouth; her sister; Dina Branco of Plymouth (late husband Miguel), Judith Ponte of Kingston (late husband Manuel).  Maria was predeceased by her sister, the late Gilda Pereira and her late husband, Edward.  She also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and her cherished dog, Spike.

Visitation will be held at the Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay St., Taunton on Thursday, January 13th from 9:00-10:30AM.   A Funeral Mass will follow at St. Anthony’s Parish, 126 School St., Taunton.  Burial will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, 475 E.
