Marie (Bruso) Amaral, 95, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 15, 2026, at Charlton Memorial Hospital.
Born in Middleboro, Massachusetts, on January 16, 1931, she was the daughter of the late George Bruso, Sr. and Abbie (Phinney) Bruso. Marie was a lifelong Taunton resident and devoted her life to her family and home.
Marie found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved playing bingo, listening and dancing to country music, and spending countless hours doing embroidery. She had a special place in her heart for animals, especially her beloved late dog Mickey. Above all else, Marie cherished the time she spent with her family, particularly her children, grandchildren, and the many generations that followed. She was especially proud to have been a contestant in the Mrs. Taunton Beauty Pageant, an experience she cherished and often spoke about with fondness.
She was the beloved wife of the late Noah R. Amaral and was also predeceased by her first husband, the late Tony Paiva.
Marie is survived by her daughters, Maryann Sojka, Kathy Paiva, Antoinette Moitozo, Jeanne Paiva, Denise Almeida, Norah Paiva Benoit and her husband Brian, Rose Amaral Buckley and her husband Scott, Laura Robbins, Elizabeth Amaral and her only son Noah George Paiva. She also leaves many cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
In addition to her late husbands, Marie was predeceased by her daughter, Donna Paiva Carvalho; her grandsons, Eric Pittsley and Kenneth Paiva; her brothers, George Bruso, Jr., Charles “Honey” Bruso, Arthur Edward Bruso, Norman Bruso, and Richard Bruso; and her sisters, Virginia Bruso Phinney, Abbie Bruso Badajo, Jeanette Bruso White, and Blanche Bruso Fitzsimmon.
Marie will be remembered for her warm heart, her love of family, her kind and caring nature, and the joy she found in the people and animals she loved. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 22, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, Taunton.
