Marie E. (Desroches) Hocking

Marie E. (Desroches) Hocking, 71, of Taunton, MA, passed away at home on Friday, August 28, 2026.

Marie was born in Worcester, MA on August 16th, 1955, and was raised in Spencer, MA. Marie was the beloved wife of Charles A. Hocking, with whom she shared 30 years of marriage.

She was a devoted mother to her sons, Seth Slate of South Carolina and Chad Slate and his wife Bre of Uxbridge, MA. Marie was also a proud grandmother to Logan, Lorelei, Danielle, and Sammy, all of South Carolina, who brought great joy to her life. She is also survived by her brother, Philip Desroches, and his wife Melissa of Sturbridge, MA, as well as several cherished nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Ernest R. Desroches and Lorraine V. (Beauchamp) Desroches, and by her brothers, Arthur Desroches and Normand Desroches.

Marie was a graduate of David Prouty High School in Spencer, MA, and Worcester State College, Worcester, MA.

Marie will be remembered for her love of family, her kindness, and the lasting impact she made on those who knew her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

Funeral will be held on Saturday, September 5th, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 547 Manley St, West Bridgewater, MA. Visitation hour from 10:00am to 11:00am, followed by memorial services from 11:00am to 12:00pm. All relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.

Burial will be at a later date.
