Marie E. (Chamberlain) Sousa

Marie E. (Chamberlain) Sousa, a lifelong resident of Taunton, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, August 23, 2026. She was 83 years old.

Born in Taunton on January 9, 1943, Marie was the daughter of the late Joseph C. Chamberlain, former Mayor of Taunton, and Marguerite Chamberlain. She was the beloved wife of the late Ronald A. Sousa.

Marie was a graduate of Taunton High School. Marie treasured the time she spent with her family. She especially looked forward to family gatherings at her home for the major holidays, where many wonderful memories were made over the years.

In her free time, Marie enjoyed doing word search puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, and playing cards with her family. In her younger years, she loved to bake and became especially well known among family and friends for her wonderful chocolate chip cookies.

Marie was the loving mother of Robin Miller and her husband Allan, Cheryl Flint, Darcy Brownell, David Sousa, the late Russell Sousa and the late Catherine Mabrouke. She was a devoted grandmother and great grandmother to many and also leaves several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

Marie was the sister of Joseph “Charlie” Chamberlain Jr. and his wife Claire, and was predeceased by her siblings Evelyn Cabral, Jeannine Phillings, Marguerite Fielding, Patricia Harrison, and Matthew Chamberlain.

Marie will be remembered for the love she had for her family, the traditions she helped create, and the many simple moments shared around her home that became treasured memories for those who loved her.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, August 31, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, Taunton.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at 11:00am at the Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay St. Taunton. Marie will be laid to rest with her late husband at Mayflower Hill Cemetery in Taunton.
