Mrs. Mary (Soares) Agrella, Age 96 of Taunton, passed away at Morton Hospital on Monday January 29th 2024, after a brief illness. Mary was the beloved wife of the late John Agrella. She was born in Taunton on March 20, 1927 to the late Domingo and Palmira (Vaz) Soares.
Mary was a lifelong city resident and was raised and educated in Taunton. Prior to her retirement in 1991, Mary was employed at Texas Instruments for 22 years. Mary was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of St. Anthony Church in Taunton. She was a member of the A.A.R.P Chapter 3938 in Taunton and was a Chaplin for many years. Mary was an avid Red Sox fan, she would never miss a game. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, cooking, baking, doing word searches and bicycle riding along the Cape Cod Canal with her late husband, but she especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
She will forever be remembered by her daughter Cheryl A. Fournier and husband Joseph of Taunton, her two sons, Philip J. Agrella and wife Tracey of Taunton and James R. Agrella and his companion Darlene Perry of Taunton, two granddaughters, Danielle Agrella of Presque Isle, Maine and Nicole Agrella of Taunton, MA. Mary also leaves behind her sisters Theresa Padula of Taunton and Elizabeth McWilliams of Middleboro, her brother Alfred Soares and wife Diane of E. Taunton. Mary is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
In addition to her late husband John, Mary was predeceased by her brothers the late Domingo Soares and wife Lydia and Joseph Soares and wife Maureen, her sisters the late Helen Rogers and husband Anthony, Margaret Walker and husband “Dixie” and Rose Bernardo and husband Anibal "Nebbs", along with her brother in-laws John Padula and Darrell McWilliams.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 5th, 2024 at Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay St. Taunton, MA from 9:00am-10:30am, a Funeral Mass to follow at St. Anthony’s Church, 126 School St. Taunton, MA, at 11:00am, with a burial at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave., Bourne, MA. All relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
