Merle R. Johnston

Merle Ray Johnston passed away at home on Saturday, December 16, 2023.

Born February 19,1929 in Lexington Nebraska to Roy E. and Ethel G. (Wells) Johnston.  He grew up in Ina, Illinois before leaving to join the US Navy in 1948. He married Joan B. Madigan in 1952. They settled in East Taunton, MA and raised three children.

In addition to his loving wife Joan, he leaves behind their children: Joanne and partner Evanthea of Dracut, MA, Craig and wife Patricia of Plympton, MA and Carolyne and husband Robert of Germany. Merle is also survived by his siblings Betty Ruston, Beverly Smithey, Charles and wife Mary. His grandson Matthew, as well as many loving friends, nieces and nephews.  Merle was preceded in death by his parents, infant son Merle Jr., and siblings Glen Johnston and Bellveretta Farmer.

Services will be private.
