Norman Albert Morin was born in Taunton on April 7, 1930, to the late Edmund and Marie (Pinard) Morin. Norman passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, due to complications from Covid-19.
Norman attended Taunton schools and was a graduate of Taunton High School, Class of 1949. He proudly served in the USMC in Korea from 1951-1953. Upon returning to Taunton, he married Therese E. Archambault at St. Matthew’s Church, Fall River in April,1954.
Norman and Therese had three sons: Richard (Linda) of Prince Frederick MD, Marc of Wrentham MA, Denis (Cindy) of Taunton MA, seven grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren. Norman was employed by Reed & Barton when he returned from Korea but later worked for Bay State Gas Company, from which he retired in 1993.
Norman was a long-time resident of the Whittenton neighborhood of Taunton and a parishioner of the former St. Jacques Church. He was known for his legendary fishing prowess. When fishing with others, he was never outfished. He provided many seafood dinners to his family and friends and taught his children how to put food on their own tables by fishing and hunting. Norman loved his vegetable and flower gardens that were planted among interesting rock and mineral specimens that he collected. His children learned from him how to collect a variety of edible nuts while avoiding injury from bulls who took offense by their presence.
Norman was predeceased by his sister Lorraine Boulay and her late husband "Pete", also predeceased by his brother Edmund Morin and his late wife Grace. Major Edmund Morin and sister Nurse Lorraine Boulay both served in the Pacific theater in WWII.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, August 26, 2024, at Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home 467 Bay St. Taunton, MA from 9:00-11:00am with a Funeral Service in the Funeral Home at 11:00am, followed by a burial at St. Joseph Cemetery, 475 E. Britannia St. Taunton, MA. All relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made in Norman’s honor to an Animal Rescue or other charity of your choice.
