Patricia "Patty" (Hudson) Kent

Patricia “Patty” Kent, age 72, of Dighton, MA, passed away peacefully in her home on February 17, 2026, while surrounded by her loving family. Patricia was preceded in death by her former husband, Stephen J. Kent. Together they share two children, Christopher J. Kent and Craig S. Kent. She was born in Taunton, the daughter of the late Norman and Mary (Murby) Hudson. She resided in Dighton, MA, for the past 38 years.

She attended Taunton schools and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Bridgewater State College. She was a dedicated educator in Taunton public schools for 35 years before retiring. Known for her sense of humor, she loved to sing, spend time with family and friends, and authored several children’s books. Above all, she treasured the time she spent with her children and with her longtime companion, Frances McLaughlin.

Patricia was preceded in death by her brother, Michael J. Hudson, and leaves behind her sister-in-law, Cindy Hudson. She leaves behind two loving sisters, Sheila Gunderson and her husband, Keith, and Lisa Lira and her husband, Jose, all of Taunton. Besides her loving children, she leaves behind several grandchildren whom she adored. She was the proud aunt of Angela Hudson, Amanda Depin, and her husband, Matt, Jenna Gunderson and fiancé Devin, Ryan Gunderson, Katelyn Lira, Michael Lira, and companion Emmalie, along with several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visiting hours will be held at Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay St, Taunton, MA 02780, on Monday, March 2, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. All relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
