It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Paul L. Dufresne, age 85, of Taunton, who passed away peacefully at home on Monday, April 7, 2025. Born in New Bedford on August 24, 1939, to the late Annette (Gobeil) and Alvinie Dufresne, Paul was raised and educated in Taunton and was a communicant of St. Jude the Apostle Parish.
Paul dedicated his early years to working on a turkey farm and was known for his dedication to his church, frequently assisting with church dinners. He served as a groundskeeper at the former Immaculate Conception Church for many years. Before his retirement, Paul worked at Paul A. Dever State School, where he started in the maintenance department and eventually became the Chef.
An active member of the Boy Scouts of America in his youth, Paul was a role model who enjoyed helping others. He was also an avid outdoorsman and an accomplished beekeeper who made and sold local honey for many years. His love for the outdoors extended to his membership in the Taunton Rifle & Pistol Club, where he was a firearm enthusiast and hunter. Paul cherished his time in his New Hampshire mountainside getaway, where he enjoyed skiing, hunting and creating lasting memories.
Paul also had a fondness for older TV shows, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family.
He is survived by his brother Ronald Dufresne and wife Maureen of Raynham, his three nieces, Anne Rounds of Lakeville, Laura Reynolds of Taunton, and Christine Galhardo and husband Paul of E. Freetown, as well as several great-nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, other extended family members and a special acknowledgement to aunt Claire. In addition to his parents, Paul was predeceased by his siblings George Dufresne, Doris Bird, and Patricia Monahan.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2025, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at the Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay St., Taunton, MA. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 am at St. Jude the Apostle Parish, 249 Whittenton St., Taunton, MA. Burial will take place at Cedar Knoll Cemetery in East Taunton.
