Phyllis Ruth (MacDougall) Mezzera

Phyllis Ruth MacDougall Mezzera born November 28, 1925, passed away just 4 days shy of her 97Th Birthday.

Phyllis always lived in Taunton. After high school she was briefly a telephone operator with "Ma Bell" before being employed at Mason Box Co. in Taunton. While working at Mason Box she met the love of her life Abramo Louis Mezzera who she affectionately always called “Louie”

After getting married and having her daughter, she was a housewife and a stay-at-home mom with a short stint working part time at the W.T. Grant Co. in the late 1950's

Phyllis took continuing education classes in hat making, furniture reupholstering, and braided rug making.  She enjoyed her church couples club, her music group The Tauntones", and her lady friend’s get-together evenings. She also enjoyed camping (tent to trailer, spanning over 20 years,) bike riding, walking the Cape Cod Canal and taking the Canal Cruises. Add in the occasional Airplane ride out of the East Taunton Airport.

She loved poetry as did her mother Ruth and wrote poems that were published in the Taunton Gazette in past years. A special booklet of poems for God's Glory was printed on her birthday November 28, 1999, with booklet production help by her then Pastor, Rick Munroe to whom she was truly grateful. Phyllis was an avid church goer all her life and loved her Lord and Savior Jesus. She shared her faith unashamedly and with passion. She lived a full and blessed life and now returns to her loving God. Her goal truly was to “know, love and serve “The Lord".

Phyllis is predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Abramo Louis Mezzera. She leaves behind her daughter Karen Heap, grandson Robert Heap, granddaughter Cynthia Graves and great-granddaughter Lorelei Graves.

Funeral services will be private.
