Raymond "Ray" Laine

Raymond “Ray” Laine, age 69, of Taunton, Massachusetts, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2026.

Born in Taunton on May 25, 1956, he was the son of the late Armand Laine and Audrey (Smith) Laine. Ray was a lifelong resident of Taunton and a graduate of Taunton High School, Class of 1974.

Following high school, Ray proudly served in the United States Coast Guard and later in the Merchant Marines. He went on to serve his community as a dedicated firefighter with the Taunton Fire Department, where he achieved the rank of Lieutenant. He was known for his leadership, commitment, and unwavering dedication to helping others.

Ray had a deep love for the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was an avid outdoorsman who appreciated time spent in nature.

He is survived by his sister, Lori J. Lindfors and her husband Karl of Middleboro, and his sister Michelle Wilcox and her husband James of Illinois.  Ray leaves behind many nieces and nephews, including Keith Laine, John Taylor, Robert Taylor, Brandon Wilcox, Brooklyn Morris, Elizabeth Hathaway, and Keith Pontes, as well as many great-nieces, great-nephews, and extended family members.  He is also survived by his sister-in-law Robin Laine and his former wife, Donna (Simmons) Laine.

In addition to his parents, Ray was predeceased by his brother Russell A. Laine, and his niece Cari Laine.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2026, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm in the Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, Taunton, MA. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home on Friday, April 3, 2026, at 10:00am. He will be laid to rest with Military Honors at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
