Reiko K. (Kushi) Carroll

Reiko Carroll, age 78, passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 29, 2025. Born and raised in Okinawa, Japan, Reiko carried the warmth, strength, and grace of her culture with her throughout her life. She eventually made her home in the United States after she married her husband, the late Laurence Carroll Jr.. 

Reiko’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her son Laurence Carroll III and his wife Dayle of Norton; her daughters Mary Finney of Mashpee, and Rachel Coute and her husband Cliff of Taunton, MA. She was a devoted and loving grandmother to Joey, Tyler, Chelsea, Nicholas, Austin, and Ryan, who brought light and laughter to her life. She cherished her great-granddaughter, Sophia. Reiko also leaves behind her beloved sisters, Kauoro and Midori, and her brother Hiroshi, whom she cherished dearly and enjoyed visiting with on her trips back to Okinawa. 

Known for her kindness and quiet wisdom, Reiko created strong friendships wherever she went, most recently in Fort Myers, Florida, where she enjoyed sunshine, good company, and the occasional nature documentary. Reiko had a true appreciation for life’s simple pleasures: a beautifully shaped stone, a great thrift store find, or spending time gardening. 

She will be remembered for her strength, her love of family, and her incredible ability to make a house feel like a home. Her presence will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a wake in her honor on Friday, June 6th, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay St., Taunton, MA. Burial will be private.
