Richard “Dick” Charles Seng, 75, of Taunton, MA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at Boston Medical Center, Brighton after a short illness.
Born in Allentown, PA, to the late Richard F. and Erma (Hinkle) Seng. He grew up surrounded by his three beloved sisters—Patricia Dolgos of Whitehall, PA, Beverly Fies of Khunsville, PA, and the late Barbara Shindel—as well as his brother, the late Robert Seng. Dick led a life marked by devotion to family, service to his country, and a deep commitment to his community.
Dick proudly dedicated twenty years of his life to the United States Coast Guard, exemplifying honor, duty, and patriotism in service to his country. The lessons and discipline instilled through his military career shaped the man he became—steadfast, reliable, and compassionate. After his distinguished military service, Dick continued to contribute to his community, working most recently with the Bloom Bus Company until his retirement.
Beyond his professional and military accomplishments, Dick found immense joy in guiding and inspiring the next generation. He spent countless years coaching youth baseball, nurturing not only athletic skill but also the values of teamwork, perseverance, and integrity. Dick cherished quiet moments spent fishing and golfing, yet his greatest happiness was found in the circle of his family. He treasured time spent with loved ones, especially his grandchildren. Dick's dedication as a husband, son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend always exceeded expectations.
Survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Paula (Machnik) Seng, and 3 children: Christopher R. Seng, of Taunton, and his significant other Tonya Hurley; Jeffrey P. Seng, also of Taunton, and his wife Marcie; and Kelley Hunton, of Somerset, and her husband Lucas. Loving grandfather to Julianna, Meaghan, Logan, Kyleigh, Mackenzie, Graham, Ryker, Margaret, and Eloise, and uncle to many nieces and nephews.
His memory will live on through the lives he touched, the family he loved, and the values he exemplified. He is remembered with gratitude, love, and respect by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay St., Taunton, MA with a Memorial Service in the funeral home at 1:30 PM. All relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
