Robert P. Benson

Robert “Bob” Benson, age 79, passed away on November 25th, 2025. He was the loving husband of the late Louise (Vieira) Benson. Bob was born in Taunton, MA on October 18, 1946 to the late Leonora (King) and Harold Benson. He was the brother of Joyce Souza of Taunton and Cynthia McPhillips of RI, David Benson of East Providence, RI, Richard Benson of Taunton and Fred Benson of Taunton. Bob is the father of Jason Benson, Daniel Benson and Rosie Benson Kenney. Grandfather to George Rose and Julia Rose, and a friend to many.

For those who knew him, Bob was a man of few words.  He worked hard his whole life and spent 37 of them at Haskins Aerospace in Taunton, Mass.  He worked hard to provide for his family; he never took a vacation but his wife was able enjoy many over the years and he always provided for his children.  He loved his family.  He was a good cook; he loved cooking big holiday meals.  When he had a yard, he enjoyed gardening very much.  He loved his sweets, apple and pumpkin pie especially. 

Bob only had one kidney, he overcame many very serious medical issues, including cancer over the years many of which were life threatening. Though some were touch and go.  He always pulled thru them through the Grace of God. 

He was small in stature but loved to eat.  When we would take him out to eat or when he came over for the holidays, we would always joke that he had a hollow leg because he could eat so much and not gain an ounce.   Bob was a huge sports fan; He loved all sports but his favorites were football and wrestling. 

Bob had a very strong Catholic faith which surely gave him strength through many of the challenges he faced during his life.  He will be sadly missed by many.

A Funeral Service will take place at 10:00am on Saturday, December 6, 2025 in the Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay St. Taunton MA 02780 followed by a Graveside Service at 11:00am at Cedar Knoll Cemetery, 175 Staples Street, East Taunton, MA. 02718.
