Robert L. Dion Sr.

Robert L. Dion, Sr. of Taunton passed away on October 19, 2023. He was the beloved husband of 47 years to his beautiful and wonderful wife, Joan G. (Ryan) Dion.

Robert was born in Taunton, Ma on April 3, 1954 to the late Robert J. Dion and Alice (Vaillancourt) Dion.

Robert proudly served in the National Guard for twelve years. He began his career as a Service Manager for an oil company prior to beginning his own business, the former RS and Sons Heating. Robert enjoyed traveling. He made many wonderful memories with his wife Joan throughout their travels, especially the two times they traveled across the country. He loved race cars, watching NASCAR, Harley’s and attending motorcycle rallies. Robbie loved going to New England Dragway with his brother, Scott. He enjoyed watching him race and being "Crew Chief".

Robert’s motto was “All Veterans are Hero’s” and he was thankful for his freedom and grateful to all who serve.

In addition to his wonderful wife Joan, Robert is survived by his two favorite sons: Dr. Joshua D. Dion and his wife, Amy and Robert L. Dion, Jr. and his wife, Julie. He leaves behind his brothers: Scott Dion and his wife Maureen, Eric Dion and his wife Ruth and his favorite sister Cheryl White. He is survived by his favorite grandchildren; Robert L. Dion, III, Nicholas Dion, Sophia Dion and Preston Dion as well as several nieces and nephews, cousins and other extended family members. Robert was predeceased by his brother, the late Michael Dion.

The family offers their special thanks to his two daughter-in- laws’, Amy for her love and support and Julie for her pampering and delicious cooking.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 25th, 2023 from 9:00AM – 11:00am at Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay St., Taunton. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00am in St. Jude the Apostle Parish, 249 Whittenton St., Taunton. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery, 24 Glebe St., Taunton.
