Robert F. Hooley Jr.

Robert F. Hooley Jr., age 74, of Somerset, Massachusetts passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 7th, 2026.

Born on April 14 1952, in Boston, Massachusetts. He was the beloved son of the late Elizabeth Alyward and Robert Hooley Sr. Robert was one of three children. Brother James Hooley Sr. and his wife Joyce and sister Elizabeth Pollock.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Joanne Hooley. Robert was a loving father to his daughter, Carole Medeiros and her husband Robert, his son Matthew Hooley; his two stepsons Eric Langfield and his wife Elizabeth; and Geoffrey Langfield and his wife Brandie. He was cherished as a proud grandfather of his eight granddaughters: Kaylee Cumbus, Olivia Langfield, Paige Langfield, Chloe Langfield, Pearl Langfield, Harper Langfield, Sloane Langfield and Bristol Langfield.

He was the uncle to James Hooley Jr, Patricia Hooley, Catherine Shanahan and Jeffrey Pollock.

Robert touched the lives of so many and will be remembered for his sense of humor, words of wisdom, storytelling and generosity. Over the years of his life Robert was devoted to helping others and making a difference. He was proud of the work he did as a mental health, substance abuse counselor and AA sponsor. 

Robert wished to be remembered for the laughter and love he shared with family and friends. Robert had a deep laugh that was contagious. He loved to laugh and loved making others laugh. Those moments he cherished. Being a good husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend is what mattered most to him. 

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay St., Taunton, MA from 1:00-4:00pm, with a service being held in the funeral home at 3:30pm. All relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
