Roger Marrotte Obituary

Roger E. Marrotte, 76, of Taunton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was the beloved husband of Maureen (Lamarche) Marrotte, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and devotion.

Born in Taunton on July 27, 1949, Roger was the son of the late Edmond Marrotte and the late Theresa (LeFaivre) Marrotte. He was raised and educated in Taunton and graduated from Taunton High School. Roger continued his education at Southeastern Massachusetts Technological Institute (SMTI), later Southeastern Massachusetts University in Dartmouth, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.

He served honorably during the Vietnam War, demonstrating his unwavering commitment and sense of duty to his country. Roger was last stationed in Nebraska at Offutt Air Force Base, SAC Headquarters. Upon graduating from college, Roger was hired directly by the United States Navy, beginning a distinguished career at the Naval Station in Newport, Rhode Island, where he remained for his entire professional career.

Roger had many interests that reflected his inquisitive mind and love of learning. He and his beloved twin brother, Roland, were avid ham radio operators and stamp collectors, sharing a lifelong bond through these hobbies. Roger also had a lifelong love of animals. He fondly remembered his childhood dog, Teddy, and throughout his life found great companionship in his cherished Golden Retriever, Belle, and his faithful best buddy, Beau, who brought him endless joy, comfort, and unconditional love.

Above all, Roger was devoted to his family. In addition to his loving wife, Maureen, he is survived by his daughter, Joan Rasmussen and her husband, William; his son, Daniel Marrotte and his wife, Colleen; and his treasured granddaughter, Cassidy Isabelle, who brought immeasurable pride and happiness to his life. Roger was predeceased by his beloved identical twin brother, Roland Marrotte that passed away on February 25, 1988.
