It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Rose F. (Camara) Payne on March 27, 2025, at the age of 85. Rose was born on February 28, 1940, in Taunton, MA to Antone X. and Josephine (Herlock) Camara.
Rose was educated in Taunton schools and graduated from Taunton High School in 1958. She was also in the first LPN graduating class of Bristol Plymouth Vocational in Taunton MA. Rose went on to continue her nursing education at Massasoit Community College and Bridgewater State University and reached her ultimate goal of becoming an R.N.
Rose worked at numerous hospitals, first as a CNA, LPN and then RN. She was a charge nurse at Marion Manor for many years. Before retirement, Rose worked as a private duty nurse, caring for ailing patients in their home. The families became very close to her for the care and compassion she showed to their loved ones, and they stayed in touch all these years. She enjoyed spending her summers at Cape Cod beaches with her family and enjoyed a good clam boil. Rose also enjoyed gardening, dancing and had spent many nights in Newport with her sister and friends, but her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.
Rose was the beloved mother of Leslie A. Payne of Taunton, Jamie L. Riendeau and her husband Robert of Berkley, and her son Eric J. Payne of Raynham. She was the cherished grandmother of Cassidy Riendeau, Corey Riendeau, Eric E. Payne, Noah Payne, and Isabella Payne. She is also survived by her sister Joanne Norman and brothers Peter and David Camara, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Rose was also the sister of the late James Camara, Marlene DaGraca, Paul Camara, Alfred Camara, Anthony Camara and Ronald Camara.
The family is grateful for the kind and compassionate care Rose received at Alden Court in Fairhaven, MA. Her special friendship with Sharon Jensen will always be deeply cherished.
