Rudy Nelson, 72, of Duxbury, was born Oct 15, 1948 and passed away at Newfield House in Plymouth on August 19, 2021. Rudy grew up in Norwood MA with his parents Jean and Tom and his eight siblings. Rudy had a colorful childhood and at the age of 18 entered the military and received a Purple Heart for his valor during the Vietnam War. The Army Corp of Engineers prepared him for entrepreneurship in construction and hazardous material abatement. But his true passions were life on the water, gardening, and bragging about his four children Karie, David, Michael and Laura.
Rudy is survived by his wife of 39 years, Diane Kessler Nelson; his children and their spouses Karie and James Hebert, David Nelson and Lianna Marciniec, Michael Nelson, and Laura and Jeremy Darling; his three grandchildren Breanna, Ryan and Isaac; as well as siblings Dorothy “Tiny” Fraser, Judy Nelson Duell, Arthur “George” Nelson, Richard Nelson, and Linda Nelson Bollinger. Rudy is preceded in death by his brothers Thomas, Ernest and Steven.
