Sharon C. (Cotter) Demaral

Sharon Demaral, 80, beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Friend passed away peacefully on July 12, 2025, at Rhode Island Hospital surrounded by the love of her family.

A lifelong resident of Taunton, Massachusetts and the surrounding area, Sharon lived a full and vibrant life dedicated to family, laughter, and kindness. Sharon attended Taunton schools and graduated from Bishop Cassidy High School. Born in Taunton, Sharon was one of nine children of the late James Cotter and Ruth McCarthy. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a proud grandmother. For many years, she worked as a billing specialist in the healthcare field, where her warmth and sense of humor left a lasting impression on colleagues and patients alike.

Sharon was known for her quick wit and love of storytelling. Whether she was sharing a joke, catching up on the latest gossip, or simply enjoying the company of others, she brought light and laughter to every room she entered. A true social butterfly, Sharon had an extraordinary gift for connecting with people and always made others feel welcome in her home and heart.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, Anthony Demaral; her son Adam Demaral and his partner Cyd Tyska, and Adam’s children Vanessa, Angela, Ryan, and Tyler; her daughter Alison Hathaway and spouse Mark Hathaway, and their children Stella and Owen; and her daughter Melissa Abrego and spouse Paul Abrego, and their children Anais and Andre. She is also survived by her brother Kevin and her sisters Dale, Joan, Christine, Robin, and Colleen, along with their partners and children, who all held a special place in her heart. She was predeceased by her siblings Kimberly and Daniel. 

Sharon’s legacy of warmth, humor, and unconditional love will live on in everyone who had the privilege to know her.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday July 23, 2025, from 4:00-7:00pm at the Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street Taunton, MA. A Funeral Mass will follow at 9:30am at Holy Family Parish, 372 Middleboro Avenue, East Taunton, MA 02718. Burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, 475 E. Britannia St., Taunton, MA. All relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
