Sherry Cottle Obituary

Sherry Lou Cottle (Eidsvig), age 70, of Rhode Island, formerly of Minneapolis, Minnesota, passed away on March 5, 2025.

Born on April 28, 1954, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Sherry was a proud member of the Sisseton Wahpeton Dakota Tribe of South Dakota. She was honored to be the 1962 Minneapolis Junior Aquatennial Queen.

Sherry's greatest joy was the life she shared with her husband of over 30 years, Carl Cottle. Together, they built a life full of love and adventure. With Carl always by her side, their shared travels and memories brought her immense happiness.

Sherry was a proud mother and “Nana,” always making time to visit her sons, Dale and Justin, cherishing every moment with them. She deeply loved her granddaughter, Lyra, and embraced the role of grandmother.

Her love extended beyond her family to the beloved dogs fortunate to share her and Carl’s home. Sherry opened her heart to many furry friends, who were all a cherished part of her life. Sherry was an avid sports fan, and could always be counted on to cheer on her teams with unbridled enthusiasm. When not cheering for her teams, she loved clamming along the peaceful shores of Prudence Island.

Sherry was preceded in death by her father, Dale Eidsvig, and her paternal grandparents, John and Reidun Eidsvig, as well as her maternal grandparents, Vivian Barse and Charles Goodthunder.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Carl Cottle; her son, Dale Patrick Murphy, and his wife, Jennifer Murphy; her granddaughter, Lyra Murphy; her son, Justin Murphy, and his wife, Tamara Murphy; her mother, Maxine Eidsvig; her brother, Kerry Nelson; and Kim and Kurt Rossina. She will be deeply missed by countless friends, family members, and all those whose lives she touched with her warmth, generosity, and love.

A celebration of Sherry’s life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charity of your choice in Sherry’s honor. Sherry’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her, and her legacy of adventure, kindness, love, and laughter will never be forgotten.
