Shirley A. (Tavares) Nicolan

Shirley (Tavares) Nicolan, age 89, formerly of East Taunton, passed away peacefully at Life Care of Raynham on July 13, 2024. She was the wife of the late Earl Craft and John Nicolan.

Shirley was the mother of Deborah (Craft) Morris and her husband Robert (Bobby) of Taunton, MA.  She was also the mother of the late, Michael Craft of Pensacola, FL.

Born May 16, 1935, in Taunton, MA. She lived most of her life in East Taunton, MA. Shirley worked several jobs including an assembler at Raytheon in Dighton, MA and Codex in Mansfield, MA. Shirley’s passions included watching local sports on TV and shopping for clothes. But, she mostly enjoyed and loved her 5 grandchildren, Keith Morris of Sharon, MA, Lynn (Morris) Sanson of Raynham, MA, Jessica (Craft) Wrigley of Attleboro, MA, Shannon (Craft) Smith of Alstead, NH, and Brian Craft of Texas. Shirley also got great pleasure from her 11 great-grandchildren including Lynn’s triplet boys, Keith’s 2 boys, Jessica’s 2 girls, and Brian’s 4 boys. 
Shirley is survived by her siblings, Louise Silvia of Raynham, MA, Joseph Tavares of Taunton, MA, William Tavares of Bourne, MA, and James Tavares of Fairhaven, MA.  She is predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Mary (Fontes) Tavares and her siblings, Dorothy Ambrozio, Mary Jane Dukacz, Richard Tavares, Sylvina Tavares, and Edward Tavares.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2024 from 9:00-11:00AM at Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay St. Taunton, MA, with a Memorial Service in the Funeral Home at 10:45AM, following a burial at St. Joseph Cemetery 475 E. Britannia St. Taunton, MA. All relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
